Redirect URLs and Security
GeoQR empowers users to enhance their QR code experience by adding redirect URLs to dynamically control where users are directed when scanning QR codes. To maintain a secure environment, GeoQR employs rigorous security checks both during the creation of QR codes and before redirecting visitors to the specified URLs.
Security Check
GeoQR automatically scans redirect URLs for malware and potential social engineering threats during the creation process.
Revalidating Redirect URLs
Redirect URLs are subject to periodic revalidation to ensure ongoing security. Here are the methods:
1. Manual Revalidation:
Users can manually revalidate a domain by navigating to the "Settings" or "Custom Domains" page and choosing the "Revalidate Domain" option.
2. Automatic Revalidation:
Automatic revalidation occurs when users attempt to scan a QR code associated with a redirect URL.
If the URL passes the security checks, it remains active.
In case of any issues, users are prompted to review and fix the URL.
Dealing with Security Flags
If malware or social engineering is detected on a redirect URL, GeoQR flags it within the application.
Visitors will no longer be redirected to flagged URLs.
Users receive notifications and should promptly address and rectify flagged URLs.
Note: Regularly review and update your redirect URLs to maintain a secure environment for both you and your visitors.
By integrating these security measures, GeoQR ensures a safe and reliable QR code experience for both creators and users.
