Checking before printing?
  • Test a sample at its intended size and on the actual material.
  • Try more than one phone in the lighting where people will scan.
  • Keep clear space around every side, and avoid folds or reflective areas.
  • Open the destination yourself and check that it is the page you intended.

Questions about reading and testing QR codes

What this check can tell you, how your image is handled, and what to keep in mind before sharing or printing.

Which QR code types can you identify?

The reader identifies standard QR codes and recognized GS1 QR codes. It also shows what the code contains, such as a web link, Wi-Fi details, or GS1 data. GS1 Digital Link recognition currently covers uncompressed product links with a 14-digit GTIN; compressed links and other GS1 identity types may appear as web links. Data Matrix and other barcode formats are not supported yet. A URL alone cannot tell us whether a code is editable or will expire.

Does my image leave my device?

No. Image reading and image checks happen in your browser. Your image and results stay on your device.

Does a readable code guarantee a good printed scan?

No. Small print, reflective material, lighting, focus and camera angle can all affect scanning. Image observations are useful clues, not certification of your printed artwork.

Does this check whether a website works?

No. We reveal the encoded address without requesting the website. Review the address, then choose Open address if you want to visit it yourself.

Can you tell whether a QR code will expire?

No. The encoded address doesn't reveal subscription status, ownership, future availability or whether someone can edit the destination.

Which files can I check?

Use PNG, JPEG or still WebP images up to 10 MB and 24 megapixels. Take a photo directly on supported devices. For HEIC, SVG or PDF, export a supported image or take a screenshot.

What if it isn't a web link?

You can still read text, Wi-Fi details, contact information, email, phone and other content. We don't join networks, save contacts, send messages or automatically open anything.
